There was plenty of talk about the “war chest” Richmond had built for the 2015 trade and free agency periods, however they only added Chris Yarran and Jacob Townsend. While the two are very handy additions, neither are the star Tigers fans expected. Overall, the best 22 has improved and Yarran’s class will be enormous at both ends of the ground. Townsend and Andrew Moore will improve their midfield depth and overall toughness, while the exciting Daniel Rioli should play a number of games in 2016.
The recent controversy featuring Dustin Martin has put a cloud over his immediate playing future and as one of Richmond’s best players; his punishment may shape their year. All of the Tigers’ best players are in the right age bracket and have many good years to come, with natural improvement from Brandon Ellis, Anthony Miles and Nick Vlastuin – amongst others – likely to keep the club playing competitive football over the coming seasons. Tyrone Vickery had a good year and will be expected to back it up with an even better one. The additions to the squad and continued improvement to younger players should see a similar finish for the Tigers.
Predicted Finish: 5th – 7th
