Expectations are high both internally and externally at Kardinia Park after a bumper trade and free agency period. The departure of a number of seasoned veterans and premiership stars; coupled with four big-name recruits in Patrick Dangerfield, Scott Selwood, Lachie Henderson and Zac Smith; and a fresh batch of draftees has the playing list looking significantly younger. The club have entered the pre-season with noticeably fewer players in the rehab group than in previous years and have great depth in the midfield as a result.
Chris Scott and his re-shuffled coaching group have a tough task in front of them to select the best team. Selwood and Smith are expected to have to fight for their position in the team, along with promising youngsters Cory Gregson, Darcy Lang and Nakia Cockatoo. After missing the finals for the first time since 2006, Geelong will be itching to make amends in 2016. The challenge is for the new players to gel and understand the game plan quickly.
Predicted Finish: 4th – 6th
