Trade and FA

Carlton help Hawks secure Jaeger

The Trade:

Carlton trades a 2017 second-round pick; Carlton receives pick 48, pick 66 and pick 70

Hawthorn trades pick 48, pick 66 and pick 70; Hawthorn receives a 2017 second-round pick

The Brief:

Hawthorn needed help to get the Jaeger O’Meara deal over the line and Carlton were nice enough to oblige here. No doubt Carlton have a goal to have a core group of quality young kids all around the same age during their rebuild and in a deep draft this year they’ll get some good players and they picks they’ve received. Hawthorn on the other hand simply needed to get a second-round pick to give to Gold Coast along with a first-round selection (pick 10) for Jaeger O’Meara. At a glance, Hawthorn look better off after this trade, but there’s been some excellent players drafted with later picks.
