In a world of fantasy and drafting, tipping has been forgotten. But we at Footy Prophet appreciate tradition and a sense of the old-school. Footy Prophet experts will go head to head in season 2017, which will no doubt provide some unexpected results. As well as to give a sense of expectation for results of the weekend ahead, we’ll see which Footy Prophet Writer reigns supreme and who knows their footy best.
Essendon, Geelong, Port Adelaide, Gold Coast, Greater Western Sydney, Adelaide, Richmond, Carlton, West Coast
Pick of the week: The Lions are playing some good footy but they’ve probably met the Tigers at the wrong time here. Teams have bounced back from enormous drubbings all season and Richmond will do the same if they want to cement their spot in the top eight.
St Kilda, Geelong, Port Adelaide, Collingwood, Sydney, Adelaide, Richmond, Western Bulldogs, West Coast
Pick of the week: The shackles have been lifted and the Pies leadership group will be eager to put performances on the board for Nathan Buckley before the seasons end. They have a great opportunity to get a win against the Suns, ironically in a similar position as a club but it will be Collingwood’s class that proves the difference.
St Kilda, Geelong, Port Adelaide, Gold Coast, Sydney, Adelaide, Richmond, Western Bulldogs, West Coast
Pick of the week: Tigers to down the Lions and flex their muscles ahead of a likely return to finals, which they missed out on in 2016.
St Kilda, Geelong, Port Adelaide, Gold Coast, Greater Western Sydney, Adelaide, Richmond, Carlton, Fremantle
Pick of the week: Geelong. Although Brisbane have been starting to string together some consistent performances, the Cats are a side who are fighting for a spot in the top 2. The Cats will feel like they let one get away after their loss last week to the Giants, so expect them to be extra determined to come away from the Gabba with the 4 points.
St Kilda, Geelong, Port Adelaide, Collingwood, Sydney, Melbourne, Richmond, Western Bulldogs, West Coast
Pick of the week: Surely Port Adelaide should be too good for the Kangaroos at home given both team’s recent form. Although they have never met at Adelaide Oval, North have failed to register a win against the Crows in all four of their meetings at the venue, while their last interstate trip to the Gold Coast only two weeks was also an unsuccessful one. With Port in the running for a top four berth and the Kangaroos having their worst season under Brad Scott, it would be a major upset if North Melbourne were to register their fifth win of the season.
Essendon, Geelong, Port Adelaide, Collingwood, Sydney, Melbourne, Richmond, Western Bulldogs, Fremantle
Pick of the week: With Bernie Vince all but certain to go to Sloane once more, I reckon Adelaide will have to tag Clayton Oliver to be a chance. I doubt the Crows will approach tagging with the same zeal as Melbourne. With Lynch returning, he could be a tad rusty, so a lot will fall on Tex’s shoulders. Melbourne have the blueprint to beat Adelaide, they just might repeat the result in the NT.
