In a world of fantasy and drafting, tipping has been forgotten. But we at Footy Prophet appreciate tradition and a sense of the old-school. Footy Prophet experts will go head to head in season 2017, which will no doubt provide some unexpected results. As well as to give a sense of expectation for results of the weekend ahead, we’ll see which Footy Prophet Writer reigns supreme and who knows their footy best.
Adelaide, Essendon, Melbourne, Western Bulldogs, St Kilda, Fremantle, Greater Western Sydney, West Coast, Brisbane
Pick of the week: The Bulldogs are 7-2 in head-to-head matches with the Gold Coast Suns and that record will extend even further after Saturday. A hard-fought 20-point victory over the Blues last week was much needed and now coming up against a depleted Suns outfit – who will be without injured trio Jarryd Lyons, Steven May and Gary Ablett – expect the Dogs to make a statement as they continue their bid for a finals berth.
Adelaide, Essendon, Port Adelaide, Western Bulldogs, Sydney, Fremantle, Greater Western Sydney, West Coast, Brisbane
Pick of the week: The Essendon v North Melbourne clash on paper was looking like a 50-50 contest until Brad Scott pulled the pin on his battered skipper Jack Ziebell. His omission is enormous and with their season done and dusted opposed to the Bombers who have everything to play for you just know the Dons will be cracking in that little bit harder.
Adelaide, Essendon, Melbourne, Western Bulldogs, Sydney, Hawthorn, Greater Western Sydney, West Coast, Carlton
Pick of the week: With most of the top teams on the ladder facing off, there are few easy picks this week. I’ll go with the Swans to topple the Saints and surge towards a remarkable finals qualification.
Adelaide, Essendon, Melbourne, Western Bulldogs, Sydney, Hawthorn, Richmond, West Coast, Brisbane
Pick of the week: Essendon. Although North Melbourne have been relatively competitive in almost all of their matches this season, the Bombers still have a point to prove and should be too quick for North at Etihad. Expect the Bombers to solidify their finals credentials in this one.
Geelong, Essendon, Melbourne, Western Bulldogs, Sydney, Hawthorn, Greater Western Sydney, Collingwood, Brisbane
Pick of the week: St Kilda were made to look second rate against the Bombers last week, while the Swans easily accounted for a Giants side that has had the wood on them in recent times. With Sydney in such good form, it is hard to see the up and down Saints troubling them at the SCG on Saturday night.
Geelong, Essendon, Port Adelaide, Western Bulldogs, Sydney, Hawthorn, Greater Western Sydney, West Coast, Carlton
Pick of the week: A host of huge outs this week (Lyons, May, Ablett) has Gold Coast on the back foot. Add to that Tom Lynch who’s currently playing with a hip injury. The Bulldogs looked good for most of the Carlton game last week, so the momentum should continue.
