In a world of fantasy and drafting, tipping has been forgotten. But we at Footy Prophet appreciate tradition and a sense of the old-school. Footy Prophet experts will go head to head in season 2017, which will no doubt provide some unexpected results. As well as to give a sense of expectation for results of the weekend ahead, we’ll see which Footy Prophet Writer reigns supreme and who knows their footy best.
Adelaide, Western Bulldogs, Geelong, Greater Western Sydney, Essendon, Carlton, Melbourne, St Kilda, Fremantle
Pick of the week: Can’t go past the Saints this week albeit their 2017 form has been as inconsistent as the MRP. It’s not a matter of North Melbourne struggling this season and being labelled as ‘easy beats’, but rather the way this season works. The Saints are out of the finals race? That’s their motivation.
Sydney, Western Bulldogs, Geelong, Greater Western Sydney, Essendon, Hawthorn, Melbourne, St Kilda, Richmond
Pick of the week: Richmond to bounce back with gusto against the Dockers, it’s a tricky match-up away from home but they have so much to play for with a top four spot so close yet so far.
Adelaide, Port Adelaide, Geelong, Greater Western Sydney, Essendon, Hawthorn, Melbourne, St Kilda, Richmond
Pick of the week: The Suns are in a spiral with no coach, no Tom Lynch, no Ablett and their players in the news about leaving. Expect a good win for the Bombers here to push back into the finals race.
Sydney, Western Bulldogs, Collingwood, Greater Western Sydney, Essendon, Carlton, Melbourne, St Kilda, Fremantle
Pick of the week: Saints to beat north. Keen to keep their very slim finals chance alive, they’ll be looking to bounce back strongly after a disappointing loss last week to Melbourne. Expect the Saints to put in a strong performance and get the job done.
Sydney, Port Adelaide, Geelong, Greater Western Sydney, Essendon, Hawthorn, Melbourne, St Kilda, Richmond
Pick of the week: The Crows host the Swans at Adelaide Oval on Friday night in a game many believe could be a grand final preview. Both sides are in good touch with four wins from their last five starts, however as well as the Crows are travelling the Swan’s big guns are really starting to fire with a top four berth in their sights. Sydney have an excellent record at the ground, having won three of the four games they have played there, with a 10-point loss to Adelaide last season their only blemish. They’ll make that four out of five on Friday night, and in doing so catapult themselves into outright premiership favourites.
Greater Western Sydney, Sydney, Geelong, Brisbane, Adelaide, West Coast, Melbourne, Hawthorn, Port Adelaide
Pick of the week: West Coast are Subi specialists, and a trip west for a tiring Carlton outfit should be a burden too heavy this week. Priddis returns to bolster the Eagles midfield. This game is too important to drop for West Coast.
