Footy Prophet Tipsters – Round 3

In a world of fantasy and drafting, tipping has been forgotten. But we at Footy Prophet appreciate tradition and a sense of the old-school. Footy Prophet experts will go head to head in season 2017, which will no doubt provide some unexpected results. As well as to give a sense of expectation for results of the weekend ahead, we’ll see which Footy Prophet Writer reigns supreme and who knows their footy best.

JARRYD BARCA

Sydney, Greater Western Sydney, West Coast, Geelong, Adelaide, Western Bulldogs, St Kilda, Essendon, Gold Coast

Pick of the week: Lock in the Bulldogs to beat Freo at Domain. Disregard their Round 23 loss last season, Freo have gone to a new level this year in terms of disappointment. It isn’t just the external pressure either, with Ross Lyon making six changes this week it is clear there is something wrong at the Dockers. The reigning premiers have had two solid hit-outs so far and despite having scares in the opening fortnight, they have found a way to win each time. With the wide open spaces at Subiaco you can expect the Dogs to run riot.

DAVID CARDAMONE

Sydney, Greater Western Sydney, Richmond, Geelong, Adelaide, Western Bulldogs, St Kilda, Essendon, Hawthorn

Pick of the week: Hawthorn are too good of a side to be 0-3 after three Rounds and despite being away to the Suns they’re my pick of the week. Gold Coast are in terrible form and are yet to prove that they can bounce back from poor performances. They come up against a new look Hawthorn side who were competitive against early premiership favourites Adelaide last week and will simply have too much class and experience.

MATT MCGRATH

Sydney, Greater Western Sydney, West Coast, Geelong, Adelaide, Western Bulldogs, St Kilda, Carlton, Hawthorn

Pick of the week:  St Kilda have won their last 2 against Brisbane, including a 58-pt thrashing in Round 23 last year. Yet to get a win in 2017, the Saints will be keen to atone for early failings and chalk up their first victory for the season at Etihad.

BEN PASCUZZI

Sydney, Greater Western Sydney, Richmond, Melbourne, Adelaide, Western Bulldogs, St Kilda, Essendon, Hawthorn

Pick of the week: Swans Despite two losses to start their campaign, the swans have made finals from this position before and will most certainly be hitting their straps tonight against the Pies. Up at their home at the SCG, the Swans should account for the Pies, eager to get their season back on the right track.

JAMIE RADFORD

Sydney, Greater Western Sydney, West Coast, Geelong, Adelaide, Western Bulldogs, St Kilda, Essendon, Hawthorn

Pick of the week: Bulldogs to defeat Dockers Despite bringing in a number of players who they thought would help them improve on their dismal 2016 result, it appears Fremantle are in even worse shape than last year. Two woeful performances see them at the foot of the ladder, while the reining Premiers are flying with no ‘hangover’ in sight. This game could get ugly for the Dockers.

DERYK THOMAS

Sydney, Greater Western Sydney, West Coast, Geelong, Adelaide, Western Bulldogs, St Kilda, Essendon, Hawthorn

Pick of the week: Swans up in Sydney will be too much for the Pies. They were up and about last week with 3 debutants, and if not for a momentum changing rushed behind decision, anything could have happened last Friday. Collingwood observers appear to talk of rushing back half-fit players for every big game it would seem. Beware of the weeks that look easy to tip. They’re often the weeks that produce upsets.
