Footy Prophet Tipsters – Round 5

In a world of fantasy and drafting, tipping has been forgotten. But we at Footy Prophet appreciate tradition and a sense of the old-school. Footy Prophet experts will go head to head in season 2017, which will no doubt provide some unexpected results. As well as to give a sense of expectation for results of the weekend ahead, we’ll see which Footy Prophet Writer reigns supreme and who knows their footy best.

Port Adelaide, Western Bulldogs, Adelaide, Sydney, North Melbourne, St Kilda, West Coast, Melbourne, Collingwood

Pick of the week: Port Adelaide have been slowly proving their doubters wrong in the early stages of the season, winning their opening two games and respectfully going down to two of the competition’s toughest opponents. They’re playing an exciting brand of footy and should be far too strong at home for a so far underwhelming Carlton. A match against the Blues should have any team confident with their chances – a match against the Blues coming off two consecutive six day breaks is a certainty.

Port Adelaide, Western Bulldogs, Adelaide, Sydney, Fremantle, Geelong, West Coast, Richmond, Essendon

Pick of the week: The Tigers best footy is simply far better than Melbourne’s minus Jordan Lewis. Richmond only played half a game of football last week, and yes the opponent was Brisbane, but the Tigers still won by seven goals. They had a far better spread of performs with Cotchin and Martin collecting a combined 36 disposals, while small forwards Castagna, Rioli and Butler will ran amok at ground level.

Port Adelaide, Western Bulldogs, Adelaide, Greater Western Sydney, Fremantle, Geelong, Hawthorn, Melbourne, Collingwood

Pick of the week: The Dogs to down the Lions at Etihad on Saturday afternoon. The reigning premiers haven’t quite made their mark yet in 2017, and this week should see them stamp their authority on a young Brisbane outfit.

Port Adelaide, Western Bulldogs, Adelaide, Sydney, Fremantle, Geelong, Hawthorn, Melbourne, Collingwood

Pick of the week: Adelaide. As good as Gold Coast has been over the past couple of weeks, their bubble will be defiantly burst by a Crows outfit with eyes solely on bringing a third flag to West Lakes. Adelaide has been close to unstoppable this season, and will look to continue this against this rising Suns (no pun-intended) team, continuing to prove that they are a genuine premiership threat.

Port Adelaide, Western Bulldogs, Adelaide, Greater Western Sydney, Fremantle, Geelong, West Coast, Richmond, Collingwood

Pick of the week: Geelong to defeat St Kilda. Both teams walked away with wins in Round 4, but Geelong’s thrashing of Hawthorn was far more impressive than the Saint’s victory over a woeful Collingwood. The Hawks got within a couple of goals in the third, but ended up losing by a massive 86 points despite a fairly quiet day at the office from Dangerfield and Selwood. Steven should come back in for the ST Kilda, and Geelong lose two to suspension in Menegola and Parsons, but should still be too good for the Saints.

Port Adelaide Western Bulldogs Adelaide Crows Fremantle GWS Geelong West Coast Melbourne Essendon

Pick of the week: Port Adelaide are home to Carlton on Friday night, and with Paddy Ryder returning means the Port mids will get their fair share of first use and provide their quality forwards will have plenty of supply. Carlton struggle to play a solid four quarters. Port will be stronger for longer and take the cash tonight.

David Cardamone – 25 (7 last week)

Deryk Thomas – 24 (7)

Matt McGrath – 23 (6)

Jamie Radford – 21 (7)

Ben Pascuzzi – 19 (3)

Jarryd Barca – 17 (4)
