In a world of fantasy and drafting, tipping has been forgotten. But we at Footy Prophet appreciate tradition and a sense of the old-school. Footy Prophet experts will go head to head in season 2017, which will no doubt provide some unexpected results. As well as to give a sense of expectation for results of the weekend ahead, we’ll see which Footy Prophet Writer reigns supreme and who knows their footy best.
West Coast, Hawthorn, St Kilda, Collingwood, Geelong, Adelaide, Fremantle, Gold Coast, North Melbourne
Pick of the week: Playing the Crows in Adelaide is hard enough, but making that road trip knowing they’re coming off a disappointing loss should have the Demons worried. Expect a better performance from the Dees with heavy, negative media speculation probably spurring them on internally to create an upset, but Don Pyke will not let Adelaide lose two games in a row. Should win comfortably in the end.
West Coast, Hawthorn, St Kilda, Greater Western Sydney, Geelong, Adelaide, Richmond, Port Adelaide, Sydney
Pick of the week: If Richmond had their doubters then the weekends performance would’ve closed the door shut on the Tigers potential to push for a big scalp and finals win this season. Yes they didn’t get the chocolates but the Western Bulldogs are high on self-belief and the Tigers pushed them all the way. Back at the “G” the minions in the forward line will weave their magic for a solid five goal Richmond victory.
West Coast, Hawthorn, Carlton, Greater Western Sydney, Geelong, Adelaide, Richmond, Port Adelaide, Sydney
Pick of the week: GWS will be smarting after being jumped by St Kilda last Friday night. Who better to take it out on than a struggling, under fire Collingwood side in Round 8?
West Coast, Brisbane, St Kilda, Greater Western Sydney, Geelong, Adelaide, Richmond, Port Adelaide, Sydney
Pick of the week: It appears week in and week out this season that there is no such thing as a ‘certainty’, nevertheless, Adelaide are my lock for this week. Having come off what was rather a ‘shock’ thumping loss to North last weekend, they will be ready to come out firing on their home turf against a Dees outfit who have failed to string some consistent performances together.
West Coast, Hawthorn, St Kilda, Collingwood, Geelong, Adelaide, Richmond, Gold Coast, Sydney
Pick of the week: Adelaide to defeat Melbourne After a shock loss to the Kangaroos last week, the Crows will be looking to bounce back strongly against a Melbourne outfit struggling to play out a full game. Although the Dees have been excellent at times, lapses throughout games have cost them dearly, and if they turn off for even the shortest of times on Saturday night the Crows will make them pay dearly.
West Coast, Hawthorn, St Kilda, Greater Western Sydney, Geelong, Adelaide, Richmond, Gold Coast, North Melbourne
Pick of the week: No such thing as a lock at present. I’ll call it a “stab in the dark” this week. If there’s one team you do not want to play this week it’s Adelaide in Adelaide. Belted off the park in Tassie last week, the Crows will seek their vengeance. Unfortunately for the Dees, they are in the firing line. It will take a 4 quarter effort from Melbourne to make this a contest. But not this week, Crows by plenty.
