Footy Prophet Tipsters – Round 9

In a world of fantasy and drafting, tipping has been forgotten. But we at Footy Prophet appreciate tradition and a sense of the old-school. Footy Prophet experts will go head to head in season 2017, which will no doubt provide some unexpected results. As well as to give a sense of expectation for results of the weekend ahead, we’ll see which Footy Prophet Writer reigns supreme and who knows their footy best.

JARRYD BARCA

Western Bulldogs, St Kilda, Greater Western Sydney, Adelaide, Collingwood, West Coast, Melbourne, Fremantle

Pick of the week: The Crows have disappointed two weeks in a row now. Surely a game against the bottom side should revitalise the form they showed early in the season. No Rockliff doesn’t help the Lions’ bid for an upset, and against an inexperienced defence the Adelaide forwards should be able to run riot.

DAVID CARDAMONE

Western Bulldogs, Sydney, Greater Western Sydney, Adelaide, Collingwood, West Coast, Melbourne, Fremantle

Pick of the week: Collingwood will make me regret this, but if they bring the same four quarter intensity they played with against the Giants with Rioli, Stratton and Frawley out of the Hawthorn lineup, they should defeat the Hawks comfortably. Treloar comes in to add even more midfield class, and my guess is we’ll find out within the first five minutes which way this one will go.

MATT MCGRATH

Geelong, Sydney, Greater Western Sydney, Adelaide, Collingwood, West Coast, North Melbourne, Carlton

Pick of the week: The Crows will come to Brisbane ready to play and reassert their position on top of the table, so expect Tex, Sloane, Eddie and the likes to fire as Adelaide put a big win on the Lions.

BEN PASCUZZI

Geelong, Sydney, Greater Western Sydney, Adelaide, Hawthorn, West Coast, Melbourne, Fremantle

Pick of the week: Adelaide, despite two ‘shock’ losses in a row, the Crows should be able to get their season back on track when they travel north to face the battling Lions. With no Tom Rockliff, it makes the task all the more difficult for the Lions who haven’t registered a win since round 1.

JAMIE RADFORD

Geelong, Sydney, Greater Western Sydney, Adelaide, Collingwood, West Coast, Melbourne, Fremantle

Pick of the week: Although as this season has already shown that no game is a ‘lock’, it’s hard to see the Lions causing an upset over the Crows – despite their two surprise defeats over the past fortnight. Rockliff is a huge loss, and with Sloane looking shaky when tagged they will also miss Mitch Robinson, who would have been the player most likely to keep the early Brownlow favourite shackled, as has been the case in his past two games. Without these two in the side Adelaide should easily account for the bottom placed Lions.

DERYK THOMAS

Western Bulldogs, Sydney, Greater Western Sydney, Adelaide, Collingwood, West Coast, Melbourne, Fremantle

Pick of the week: GWS at Spotless Stadium should be a task too tough for the sliding Tigers. With Toby Greene returning to the lineup to sneak goals, the Giants’ tall forwards will have too much fire power for Alex Rance and the Tigers backs. Tigers are unbeaten at Spotless Stadium, although the last win there was Round 10, 2014, back when anyone could beat GWS. Times have changed and Richmond to slide out if the eight.

Note: Port Adelaide and Gold Coast have a bye this week after their overseas match in Shanghai
