Griffin holds his own against Mummy

Fremantle ruckman Jonathon Griffin broke even with the Giants’ Shane Mumford in their clash at Domain Stadium on Saturday.

Since taking over the extra responsibility placed upon him by the absence of the injured Aaron Sandilands, Griffin has made steady improvement over the last few weeks. On Saturday against GWS, he came up against one of the AFL’s premier ruckman in Shane Mumford and if anything came out slightly ahead. While the two big men shared the hit outs with 41 apiece, Griffin had 12 disposals, two marks and three tackles compared to Mumford’s eight possessions, one mark and six tackles.
