Griffin puts his hand up for second ruck role

Jonathon Griffin did his chances of starting the season off as Fremantle’s second ruckman no harm with a strong performance against the Tigers on Friday.

Griffin will once again be contesting for the second ruck position at the Dockers behind Aaron Sandilands in 2016 with both Zac Clark and Jack Hannath, and put his hand up early for the role with a very solid half of football in Fremantle’s opening NAB Challenge match at Mandurah on Friday. Although only playing the first half, the 30 year old had five disposals, two marks, two tackles, 10 hit outs and kicked two goals, while one of his younger challengers for the second ruck role in Hannath had little impact in the second half.
