Trade and FA

Suns setting up 2017 by giving Dockers No.35

The Trade:

Gold Coast receive pick 73 and a second round pick in the 2017 draft.

Fremantle receive pick 35, pick 71 and a fourth round pick in 2017

The Brief:

The Suns already hold a strong position in this year’s draft (pick 4,6,8,10) and clearly are looking to get themselves in the best possible position for next years. They have secured as second-round pick in the 2017 draft by essentially giving up a late second round pick this year and a fourth round pick next year. The Dockers get pick 35 back, having secured it earlier in the trade period as part of the Cam McCarthy deal, and then giving it away as part of the Joel Hamling trade. It means the Dockers now have three picks in the first two rounds.
