The Brief

Hard to understand the reasoning for Sydney doing this trade unless they feel they need to move up those eight spots in the National Draft, or they have a very late deal they are trying to complete before the trade deadline of 2pm on Friday afternoon. From a purely points perspective Sydney receive 606 points, while the Giants get 692.

Club Trade Rating

Sydney – Although the 92 points the Swans lose in this deal is not a lot, they haven’t gained much either. If the selection is part of a strategy to gain a player either late on Friday or through the draft, the deal is a good one for them. Otherwise, it’s hard to see the point.

Rating – Even

GWS – The Giants have done well on this trade of points. With a far better crop of academy players than the Swans this year, GWS need points, and moving down from a late second to early third round won’t affect them at all, but the extra 86 points will come in very handy.
