TAC Cup Report: Power Surge short circuits Pioneers

The Gippsland Power over came a 28 point half time deficit to defeat a disappointing Bendigo Pioneers outfit on Saturday. At half time it looked a case of how far for the Pioneers but the Power took total control of the game ,kicking nine of the last ten goals. The Pioneers were looking dangerous as they continually put the ball into their forward line early in the game. Bottom Ager Dane Grace kicked two early goals and the busy and at times brilliant Brent Daniels had 4 goals by half time. The ball was being pumped in by players such as Angus Schumacher, Koby Hommelhoff and Darby Henderson. Bailey Henderson was also busy as a hard working centre half Forward. Gippsland were being kept in the game through the work of Nick Hogan, Matthew McGannon and Callum Porter.

After half time the lack of defensive pressure from the Pioneers allowed the Power to control the game and they repeatedly ran the ball out of their back half without any pressure once the ball hit the ground. The Power had 27 more uncontested marks allowing them to spread the Pioneers defensive structure. Forwards Will Broadbent, Jack Hudson and Will Stephenson hit the scoreboard with 8 goals between them whilst Irving Mosquito became busy up the ground sending the ball into their forward fifty 8 times, placing the Pioneers defense under pressure despite the efforts of the Pioneers Keelin Betson.

The Power’s run and fines seemed superior to that of the Pioneers who were looking for their best start to a season for over a decade. The contested ball statistics saw the Power also outnumber those of the Pioneers.

No Prez…they are in fact the opposition but it was interesting to look at their accounts of the game. No one is right as its all very speculative atm but can change.

They still had no influence on the game JB
I don’t think you could watch more than 1 player per game by your last 4 scouting notes.
    What other forums ?

I’m a little bit confused by this? I use statistics as a basis of evaluating player performance and watch the game closely…including a replay. Were you at the game? Does your son Play? If he does I will keep an eye out for him. May I also suggest that you look at other forums as I believe there are a lot of similar names being thrown around. last week I did a piece nominating players who will make Vic Country from Ballarat and Bendigo. The only one I missed out on was Tom Campbell…so I think I’m close to the mark. Good Luck

Hello Prez, I agree that Daniels was very good, especially early. The player stats of the other players in Schumacher and Henderson cannot be ignored. Henderson went at 72% and Schumacher went at 56% but they were clearly the best ball winners. Do you have a boy playing? If so I will keep an eye out for him.

Hommelhoff best, Atley also in best players. Perhaps effective stats are more useful. Anyone else going to report on Pioneers games?
