AFL Victoria announced its TAC Cup team of the year at its awards evening on Sunday night.

All 12 teams were represented at least once in the 24-man squad, led by Eastern Ranges with five players selected and Geelong Falcons with four.

Geelong’s James Worpel was named as captain of the side, while Gippsland’s Leigh Brown was named coach.

Morrish Medallist Jack Higgins was named in the forward pocket as the only player selected from minor premier Oakleigh. He joined Ben Paton, Paddy Dow, Charlie Constable, Lloyd Meek and Callum Porter as their respective club’s sole representatives.

Other notable selections include projected high draft picks in Cameron Rayner, Luke Davies-Uniacke, Jaidyn Stephenson and Sam Hayes. Richmond father/son prospect Patrick Naish was named on the wing.

The names featured in this star-studded line-up will likely form the bulk of the early rounds of November’s AFL national draft.
