Player Name: Richard Douglas
Current Club: Adelaide Crows
Potential Club: With Richard Douglas still contracted there hasn’t been much interest for the 29-year old however as Adelaide look to land midfield support and depth names like Tom Rockliff and Hamish Hartlett won’t come easy and players will need to be up for discussion.
The Original Price: Richard Douglas was drafted by the Adelaide Crows with pick 16 in the 2005 National Draft.
The Good: Douglas was part of Adelaide’s leadership group in 2016 and he is one of the few Adelaide midfielders that can push forward and contribute on the scoreboard, kicking 19.13 this year – only one behind his career high of 20 goals in a season.
The Bad: His form in 2016 season did waiver and was well down on previous seasons, averaging just the 17.6 disposals compared to his 21.6 average in season 2015. You have to go back to 2012 to find a season when he averaged less than 20 disposals a game.
What his club wants: The Crows want more midfield depth and despite not publicly stating Douglas’s name players will need to be discussed if key trades are to arranged.
What he’s worth: Contracted until the end of 2018, Douglas would only come into trade negotiations if rival clubs brought him up for discussion.
What we’d pay: Late second-round pick
Possible trade scenarios: Douglas will only be up for trade if rival clubs bring him up as a player who would help get a trade across the line.
The Verdict: Remains a Crow
Star Rating: 3/5
