WAFL COLTS SCOUTING NOTES: SOUTH FREMANTLE VS EAST FREMANTLE

In round 9 of the WAFL Colts competition, East Fremantle defeated South Fremantle by 14 points at Fremantle Oval.

In tough conditions, the Sharks overcame an 11-point deficit to move to fourth position on the ladder.

TOM BLECHYNDEN/SOUTH FREMANTLE/MIDFIELD/185cm/79kg

The Brookton-Pingelly product was superb for the Bulldogs through the middle of the ground with 18 possessions, six tackles and five marks. His link-up play along with his defensive efforts culminated in an excellent display.

LACHLAN FEENEY/SOUTH FREMANTLE/FORWARD/185cm/72kg

The Jandakot Jets junior was a huge presence inside 50 for South Fremantle. His leading patterns were outstanding and this was evident in the first quarter when he was able to push off his opponent before leading into space to take an uncontested mark. He finished with three goals from 10 possessions.

MANFRED KELLY/SOUTH FREMANTLE/HALF FORWARD/169cm/71kg

Only 16-years-old, Kelly is a livewire inside 50 and looks to be a star of the future for either South Fremantle or an AFL club. Blessed with explosive pace and elite agility, Kelly was dynamic against the Sharks with 17 possessions and four inside 50s.

JACK MUSIKA/SOUTH FREMANTLE/MIDFIELD/176cm/69kg

THE 2017 WA U16s representative was outstanding in the middle for the Bulldogs. Without Kyle Hamersley and Regan Spooner in the middle, Musika stood out with 16 possessions, four marks, three tackles and two inside 50s. His penetrating skills along with his toughness make him an excellent prospect.

BEN PEARS/SOUTH FREMANTLE/RUCK/192cm/87kg

The Willetton junior tried hard in the ruck for the Bulldogs, winning 27 hit-outs along with 13 possessions, five marks, two tackles and two inside 50s. In only his third game of WAFL football, Pears demonstrated that he has the potential to be a star for the Bulldogs.

DYLAN CURLEY/EAST FREMANTLE/FORWARD/188cm/70kg

In his short career so far with the Sharks, Curley has demonstrated that he has the potential to be a star. And against the Bulldogs he showcased why. With only eight possessions, Curley had six score involvements including two goals, highlighting how damaging his disposal is.

JOSH RITCHIE/EAST FREMANTLE/HALF-BACK/174cm/64kg

The Kardinya junior was his usual composed and classy self on the half-back flank for the Sharks. He collected 20 possessions, grabbed five marks, laid three tackles and recorded two inside 50s in a dazzling display. His vision, composure and skill level are all elite for such a young player.

COREY ROBINSION/EAST FREMANTLE/MIDFIELD/179cm/70kg

The Aquinas student went into the game under an injury cloud, but you could not tell by his performance. Robinson did a lot of grunt work in the middle, gathering 20 possessions and often putting his body on the line to win the ball for his team. He also recorded six inside 50s and took five marks in a magnificent performance.

TREY RUSCOE/EAST FREMANTLE/KEY FORWARD/194cm/88kg

An underage prospect, Ruscoe was excellent in the forward half for the Sharks. For a big man he was exceptionally clean given the tough circumstances and his forward craft was exceptional. He finished with 10 possessions, four tackles, three inside 50s, two marks and a goal in a solid outing.

NICK WATSON/EAST FREMANTLE/RUCK/197cm/89kg

Arguably the most valuable player on the ground, Watson showcased why he was so unlucky not to be in the WA State U18s Academy. Against Pears, he collected 17 possessions, won a game-high 40 hit-outs, took four marks and laid two tackles in a standout game.

TOM WRIGHT/EAST FREMANLE/HALF-FORWARD/179cm/81kg

The Winnacott junior was excellent on the half-forward line for East Fremantle with 11 possessions, 10 tackles, two marks and two goals. His defensive efforts were inspiring and his offensive play was excellent.
